Toxic Blossom is a unique mechanic used exclusively by A.K.I. in Street Fighter 6.

Description

When an opponent is poisoned, their entire body is highlighted in a purplish glow, causing them to take damage over time. However, hitting a poisoned opponent with certain special moves or target combos triggers a Toxic Blossom. This not only inflicts additional damage to the opponent, but it also grants the attack specific properties such as a higher juggle state, better frame advantage on knockdown, or putting them in a crumple state. Toxic Blossom is indicated with a purple explosion and a momentary screen freeze. Once a Toxic Blossom has been triggered, the poisoning effect ends. The opponent can also end the poison effect by inflicting damage to A.K.I.

Tactics

A.K.I.'s gameplan combines her unorthodox movement while putting the opponent in a poisoned state with her special moves such as Nightshade Pulse and Serpent Lash. She also has Orchid Spring, which sets a toxic puddle on the ground that poisons the opponent once they step into the pool. Poisoning the opponent slowly decreases their health in time. However, even with the added poison, A.K.I. inflicts minimal damage at best, making it difficult to win a round traditionally. This also makes it very important for her to score a hit with Toxic Blossom. She can open them up with throws and low pokes to hit-confirm into a combo that allows her to trigger a Toxic Blossom to increase the overall damage and push the opponent closer to the corner with the added juggle combos.

The following attacks below are attacks that trigger a Toxic Blossom, as well as its enhanced properties:

  • Qiong Qi
    • Launches the opponent for a short juggle.
  • Nightshade Chaser

      • Punish Counter extends the crumple state for further conversions.
    • Medium Version crumples grounded opponents and launches airborne opponents higher.
    • Heavy Version launches the opponent in a higher juggle.
    • OD Version crumples grounded opponents and causes a free juggle state on airborne opponents.
  • Venomous Fang
