Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a fighting game in Capcom's cross-over series with the Marvel Comics characters, and is an update to their previously released Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The game feature 12 new characters as well as changes to the gameplay balance. The game was released on February 15th, 2012.
In early December 2016, the game got re-released for the PlayStation 4 and later released for Xbox One and PC in March 2017. The port features 1080p graphics, 60fps gameplay and all previous released DLC.
Characters
All the characters from the previous title return, and 12 newcomers joining the battle. The 12 new characters are Ghost Rider, Strider Hiryu, Hawkeye, Firebrand, Doctor Strange, Nemesis, Iron Fist, Vergil, Nova, Phoenix Wright, Rocket Raccoon and Frank West. There are also screen shots which reveal new alternate costumes for certain returning characters.
Gameplay
In addition to balance patches, spectator mode has been added for online play.
Another downloadable mode called "Heroes and Heralds" was added to the game, where the playable characters can be used in either mode as themselves or as Galactus' heralds. Various unplayable Capcom and Marvel characters were used as playable cards for this mode, and provide power-ups based on both the card and which of the three usable cards is used as the primary card. Notably, none of the non-playable Street Fighter characters were used as part of the cards.
Roster
All thirty-eight characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 return for this game, including Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath, who are still available for purchase as DLC. Furthermore, twelve additional characters (five new Capcom characters, one returning Capcom character and six new Marvel characters) are added to the roster, bringing the total to fifty characters available in the game.

Trivia
- This is the first crossover game from Capcom involving Marvel that sees a PC release.
- Ingrid was planned as a playable fighter for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 but she didn't make the cut.[1]
