Description

VagabondEdgeMedium

Executed by performing a quarter circle forward motion and pressing punch (or pressing Special Attack for Modern Control), Kimberly steps forwards for a rapid knife-edge chop. The strength of the punch button pressed determines the follow-up attack after the chop. The Light version is the only exception, which has Kimberly just perform the chop. The Medium version has Kimberly perform a jumping axe kick if the chop connects. The Heavy and Overdrive versions has Kimberly deliver a high kick that launches the opponent.

Tactics

VagabondEdgeHeavy

This versatile move functions as a means to extend or end combos for Kimberly. Each version functions differently because of the varied follow-ups. The Light version has the fastest startup and is the least punishable on block, -5 when blocked closely, but safe at -3 if spaced properly. It is mainly used for light confirm hits and neutral pokes. On close hit, Kimberly can set up a strike/throw mixup, and on far hit she can link into her Standing Light Kick for further combos. It is also her strongest cancel into Bushin Ninjastar Cypher whether it be in juggles or cancels.

The Medium version's second attack knocks the opponent straight down to the ground, leaving them close to Kimberly. This version gives her better okizeme. It also has more range than the Light version, able to the opponent from 1/4 of the screen away. When paired with her Shuriken Bombs, Kimberly can tack on more offensive pressure or more damage from a variety of combo routes.

The Heavy version has the slowest startup, but covers about 1/3 of the screen. The second attack launches the opponent in the air. It can be jump cancelled to continue the combo and inflict more damage. The Heavy version gives Kimberly the better damage output and corner carry. In the corner, Kimberly can forgo the jump cancel and finish the combo with Heavy Bushin Senpukyaku.
