The Yagyou Dama (夜行魂? "Night Traveling Soul") is one of Oro's Super Art attacks in the Street Fighter III series. It is the more powerful version of his Nichirin Shou.
Description
All appearances | + |
---|
The Yagyou Dama is the basic version. Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing punch, the attack sees Oro fire a larger orb which travels in a sine-wave trajectory - zigzagging up and down. The orb travels extremely slowly and dissipates after about five seconds or after it hits the opponent four times (whichever is first). Activating Yagyou Dama will require the player to have distance away from the opponent; the attack will require Oro to concentrate to unleash a sphere, and he is very vulnerable during the start up animation.
Yagyou Dama's Super Arts Gauge will allow Oro to build up to three stocks, and an advantage of Yagyou Dama is that Oro can execute the attack continuously, filling the screen with orbs. Like Dhalsim's Yoga Catastrophe, the orb's slowness is an advantage: it allows Oro to attempt to get on the far side of the opponent and force them to block in two directions at once, which results in the opponent getting hit. The orb is also capable of juggling an opponent, and proper execution can allow multiple orbs for a devastating trap juggle.
Yagyou-Odama

The Yagyou-Odama (夜行大魂? "Night Traveling Great Soul"), also known as EX Yagyou Dama, is the extra powerful version. Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing two punch buttons with a maxed out Super Gauge, Oro leaps up into the air and summons a massive orb of ki, throwing it downwards, hitting up to about twelve times.[1]This version covers more vertical space as opposed to the horizontal space covered by the basic Yagyou Dama, and is best used in the corner where the opponent cannot avoid it by moving away. If used as a K.O finisher during the last round Oro will go into a special win pose, using both hands to re-summon the large ki orb from the ground which engulfs him and drifts away.
